Letter 23 to ELLEN DeGeneres from Chelle series: Hoping

Dear Ellen,

I always thought you were high-five’ing that producer guy, so I’m glad today is High-Five Day and you showed the footage and explained how you weren’t really high-five’ing him, but more like shaking his hand.  (Not that there’s anything wrong with  high-five’ing; heck I’d thought this whole time you were high-five’ing him).  So, what’s it is it called that you do when right before you shake that guy’s hand, a lady throws up in the air something for you to catch with your mouth?  (peanuts, nuts, cashews, mints, or what is it anyway that she is throwing up in the air for you to catch?)

It’s so good to see Wanda Sykes on your show today.  (I love seeing comedians together having conversation.)

So, how was your day?  I worked osme, worked out some, watched t.v. some.  It’s supposed to rain most of tomorrow here in Texas.  I’m looking forward to CA weather (except earthquakes, which believe it or not, I’ve already been in one here in Texas & was even on the news with my dog, Prescott all about that experience); anyway, when I visit Los Angeles for a few days in May, I’m going to pack various clothes so I can wear layers each day; I’ve been to California once before; it was San Francisco during summer 1996.  I recall how the day began really cold and then warmed up by afternoon and got really cold again by evening.  I am beginning to wonder now if I should mail my clothes to my hotel before my trip?  If not, I think I might need two suitcases full of clothes to wear layers!

So, what are you doing this weekend, Ellen?  There are so many choices, including Earth Day activities, such as going to see Chimpanzee (which I definitely will be doing during Opening Week; I love apes and Jane Goodall is one of my heroes);  I’m working Friday, going to a reunion for all three high schools from my hometown Saturday nite, and hosting my online talk show (Coffee Talk with Chelle) Sunday nite; feel free to call in & say “Hi!”  – you can call in anytime between 6pm Pacific Time thru 8pm PT on Sunday nites (including this Sunday, April 22nd) @ (347) 215-7225 & check out my main website @ coffeetalkwithchelle.com where you can see info about myself & my talk show & upcoming book & more, but also you can hear me read any of my letters to you thus far, Ellen on there!  Just make sure to go to the main page & then look on far right-hand side of page where you see links listed & find “Letters to Ellen from Chelle series.”  Oh, by the way, I’m supposed to be going to my 20th high school reunion sometime this year; however, I’m not sure if that event will even be happening now since they are hosting this reunion Saturday nite for ALL class graduates for ALL high schools from my hometown.    So, we’ll see.

My hubby(SuperDave) is playing a video game; my doggy (Prescott) is sleeping on our bed.  And I’m about to say GoodNight & Sweet Dreams, but before I do I want to ask if I may please meet you May 17th when my husband & I have requested two tickets for the taping of your show when visiting L.A.  ***I’ve been thinking so positively that as soon as we even put in the requests for the two tickets to your show we booked hotel, flight, etc that SAME DAY in hopes that we will make it into your audience that day!  I believe ANYTHING is POSSIBLE!

At same time, I want to also let you know if you ever need anything, you can call me anytime, too!  I have enclosed in my letter I mailed out to you my contact info while at home & while in L.A. for few days in May.

Love & Peace,

Chelle

“Letter 22 to ELLEN DeGeneres from Chelle series: Got Talent?”

Dear Ellen,

Did yo uhave a wonderful Wednesday or just another day today?

I worked from home setting appointments for my boss.  Later on, my husband & I went to the new “In & Out Burger” located about 10 minute drive from where we live.  I’ve actually been to one before on the West Coast.  I rode in limo. that went thru the drive-thru at In & Out Burger in Las Vegas!  That was ALOT of FUN!  (although I admit I was a tad nervous when the driver was wrapping around the bend of the drive-thru wondering if the limo. would really fit & it DID!)  Anyway, it made a great cheat meal for me as I’ve been eating 3 meals & 2 snacks daily from The Fresh Diet.  LOVE that company!  They make everything tastes delicious!

My hubby (SuperDave), doggy (Prescott), & I are watching Britain’s Got Talent videos on youtube right now (don’t ya just love the Internet).  I’m loving these audition videos!  I’ve auditioned myself a couple of times for America’s Got Talent (comedy act), but even though I didn’t make it thru doesn’t mean I don’t have any talent, right?  I mean, for example, look at the Jabbawockeez!  They were turned down by AGT, but won ABDC!  This reminds me of why I love reality shows, especially those that give people a chance to make their life dreams come true!  Speaking of shows like that, that reminds of YOU & your show!  So, I wanted to ask you; “May I please meet you in MAY, Ellen? May 17th specifically, if possible; I’ve requested a couple of tickets for my husband & myself to attend the taping of your show on that date, but I understand it’s a wait & see if we get the tickets, actually.  I’ll keep hoping & believing & thinking positively!   Meeting you would mean everything to me!  Best prize of all would not be cash nor prizes but MEETING YOU, Ellen!  That’s what I wish for!

Love & Peace,

Chelle

(said like Shell; yes, I love seaShells & I love it when people say “See, Chelle!” pointing something out to me)

Day 1 of My New Life

So, it has begun my journey to change my lifestyle habits with diet & exercise not just starting today but going forward permanently.  Time for me to finally once and for all get on track & live healthy lifestyle.  This is Week One.

I’d been thinking about how I’ve been hiding behind the scenes most of the time when I’m hosting my online talk show (www.coffeetalkwithchelle.com) that’s “audio” style since Feb 2009, but now it’s time for me to take it up to the next level, which I will do by traveling to Los Angeles in May & The Carolinas (probably in June) & meeting, interviewing past Guests of “Coffee Talk with Chelle” LIVE via VIDEO in person!  So, I have even more motivation now than the apparent reasons of wanting to feel & look great!

So on March 19th, I began eating meals from The Fresh Diet as well as replacing one meal per day with (chocolate flavored) Shakeology shake.  Unfortunately, due to getting blisters on my legs from minor injury & coming down with cold-like symptoms past few days, I haven’t begun working out nearly as much as I’d hoped to yet.  I can barely walk without excruciating pain.   In meantime, though I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the various flavors & meals from The Fresh Diet.  I also appreciate the convenience of the delivery at my doorstep each day of prepared meals, which I then stock in my refrigerator for the next day.  Looking forward to blogging & sharing more with all of you soon this new journey!  In meantime, I’ve made investments for spring/summer activities, such as a bike, theme park season pass, water park season pass, & have zumba & yoga dvds at home. And bought a second dance pad to compete vs my husband for fun with dance video game (via Playstation 2).

My (2010) Year in Review

2010 began with a rocky start as my mother-in-law (Lupe) died in January and lost my Uncle Bill in February;  Lupe had a seizure due to epilepsy causing her to fall, hit her head, and go brain dead; she is the first person I know of now that has donated organs.  One week after her funeral, I registered myself as an organ donor.  I even hosted a two hour, two part special on my talk show (Coffee Talk with Chelle) about Epilepsy and Organ Donations (interviewed Communications Director from LifeGift of Texas).  Uncle Bill initially was told he had two years to live when the doctor informed him he had prostate cancer, but somehow that two years timeframe ended up only being two weeks.

I volunteered and taught Grief Recovery classes to Dallas-Fort Worth community for the second year; every person and his or her story touched my life.  I’m so proud of all of my students as it took alot of courage for them to open up to others and to do their homework assisgnements, but in the end, it helped every one of them.

It was bittersweet for me attending the annual Christmas memorial candlelight dinner this year, as my husband (David) and I lit a candle in honor and memory of Lupe.  Also, I visited with my former Grief Recovery students from these past couple of years.  I am taking a break from teaching the classes as I focus on becoming a Foster Care (and) Adoptive Mom eventually, hopefully.

My husband and I attended the classes all day every Saturday during the month of October.  We have the Health Inspection appointment on Monday, Dec 27th and then we only lack the Home Study before we begin having child(ren) come into our home.  We pray every day for it all to work out and for us to a blessing to these child(ren).   We also continuously pray for a few close family members who have been seriously ill as well, including our 4 year old niece (aka our goddaughter) who’s been in and out of the hospital for these last few months of 2010 due to pneumonia and kidney infection; also my biological Mom who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (stage 3) at the end of October; she is currently on Round 3 chemo of 8, which will be followed by masectomy and radiation later on.  I joke alot with her since “laughter is the best medicine.”  I’m so thankful I’m able to help her out and drive to her to chemo, doctor appointments, and so on – just appreciate the 12 years we’ve been reunited and also each day we have together right now.  And then my biological father is not doing well, either as he’s having heart issues, and will be having major surgery on Jan 13th.  Trying to be strong for everyone.

Speaking of adoption, I was thrilled to have met two Adoptee Celebrities in 2010, including both country singer Rodney Atkins and musician, Michael Franti (and Spearhead).  I handed Mr. Atkins a letter I had written him about my adoption story and thanking him for all he has done, as he has been the National Adoption Spokesperson a couple of times.  And then I had the honor of introducing Mr. Franti and his band on stage at House of Blues in Dallas back on Sept 30th.

And speaking of artists, I also made a life dream come true of not only meeting Mr. Atkins and Mr. Franti, but also Brandon Hilton, who I have nicknamed “Beautifully Handsome.”  I had interviewed him in June (on Coffee Talk with Chelle) and then met him in Dallas on his birthday in July (our birthdays are only one week apart).  I even bought him a “Birthday Cake” shot.  And before he left town again to film a movie (which he is doing currently), I had the privilege of seeing him perform live two consecutive nights.  Hope I see him again in the near future, as he’s such a joy to be around.

I’m so thankful for all my talk show guests and listeners.  Hosting “Coffee Talk with Chelle” has been an amazing experience for me thus far as I’ve interviewed people of various backgrounds, including Book Authors, such as Eva Miller about Adoption, Letricia Hendrix about Depression, and Robert Shaines, a veteran about his experience serving our country and forming a friendship with his prisoner.  Also have had Fashion Designer and Actor Joshy Lofty on my show and been fortunate enough to have become friends with him as well.  Enjoyed interviewing Rodenberry Dive Team’s Director Greg Martin, “Sounds Like a Revolution” documentary filmmaker Summer Love, Entrepreneur and PUP (personal utility pouch) Inventor, Jean Newell and fabric aerialist Kyla Duffy (“Up for Pups” show) many other inspiring people this year!

As a way of showing gratitude and giving back to my listeners, I’m currently hosting a contest, “Coming Out of Your Shell” which the winner will be announced New Year’s Day and will receive a Prize Package that consists of all types of goodies donated by my past guests and also an opportunity for an Interview!  In case you’re interested, it isn’t too late to enter the contest as deadline isn’t until Dec 31st!  So, submit a video or blog to me via CTalkWC@aol.com and share how you are or will be “Coming Out of Your Shell” now or in 2011 – basically, what are your New Year’s resolutions?

Perhaps I’ll be sharing with you then mine, but for now I’ll just wrap this up by telling you all THANK YOU so much for your support!  Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays for the remainder of 2010 & Happy New Year in 2011!
